Resin flooring contractor ACL Industrial Flooring were asked to assist in the refurbishment of a vacated industrial unit. The existing concrete floor had a large number of chip, gauges, bolt holes and cracks. The client requested a resin floor coating to be applied in this Walton Summit, Preston unit. They were after a cost effective resin flooring solution that would provide a clean, non dusting surface that would be suitable for occasional forklift trucks. The product chosen by the client was two coats of water based epoxy resin floor coating.
The process to install this system was to first prepare the existing painted floor by diamond grinding. This was done to remove the weak layer of paint, remove any residual contamination and create a fine mechanical key.
The first coat of water based epoxy resin floor coating was applied to the whole floor surface then left to cure over night. This first coat sealed the floor and highlighted the repairs that needed to be carried out. The following day after the first coat had cured the repairs were carried out to fill the numerous cracks chips and bolt holes.
To finish off the installation a section of wall, one block high, was coated after which the floor received its final coat of water based epoxy floor coating.
